Everyday
Self Defense programs offer
a balanced approach to personal and workplace safety
that anyone can learn. The
programs are designed to help you reduce fear and gain
confidence
in providing for your personal safety, promoting high-level wellness
and improved job performance.
Each
presentation includes awareness exercises, role-playing, stress
reduction techniques, and practice with simple but surprisingly
effective physical skills.
Combining
more than 30 years training and teaching in the martial arts
with her experience as a professional social worker, Janet
Nelson has
developed a unique approach to personal safety awareness that
stresses social and professional issues as well as mental and
physical training.
Everyday
Self Defense represents all that she has learned
applying self defense techniques to common, everyday situations
that most of us have to deal with in our personal and professional
lives.

April
28th is Workers’ Memorial Day
...
a day for remembering those who have died in the workplace.

For
all of us working in caring professions like social work,
health care, mental health or social services, it is
troubling to witness the threats, harassment, abuse and
violent attacks that occur on the job.
We must get educated and promote improved
safety measures within our professions. "…we
need to do more advocacy work to protect those of us
who work hard helping others.” (pg. 38, Everyday
Self Defense for Social Workers)
