Participant Comments About Online Classes
"I just completed the online self defense course and wanted to thank you for all your efforts on behalf of social workers and others. Although the course was long the information was very good and presented well. I would recommend it to others. I feel I got my money's worth."
"I just finished the online safety class and found it very beneficial. Thanks for offering. I have passed the information on to my social work network of friends."
"I would first like to thank you for putting together such a wonderful course for persons who work with clients in their homes. Again, thank you, so much, for such a wonderful, wonderful course. I’m full of new knowledge thanks to you."
"The steps to prepare myself before leaving for a home visit were a great check list, ensuring that I know as much as I can before the client and have clear directions to their home, as well as something about the neighborhood that I will be entering. I had not thought about asking who else would be home, but this makes sense. The activity where we closed our eyes and envisioned different rooms in our home and what could be used as a shield or a weapon was very useful. Prior to this I would have thought the kitchen was a safe place to meet. The hint to always keep an eye out for exits is something my dad always reminded me of doing related to fire emergencies, but I see now this is useful for many emergencies. I appreciate and acknowledge the importance of preventing a situation from becoming dangerous though awareness, balance, control, and de-escalation techniques. In addition, the tip to have an excuse ready for you to leave should any illegal or suspicious behavior be occurring was great."
"The course was great, very informative and I learned a lot. Many of your thoughts and tips I would have never known and neither would many of my co-workers. The time frame to complete the course was perfect."
